Street word has it that Audi will build a Audi R8 V8 Spyder, an even more sporty version based on the new Audi R8 LMS with less weight and is even considering to use S-tronic instead of the R-tronic. Exciting!
Late in 2010, Audi will show a less expensive version of the Spyder, powered by the familiar 420-hp, 4.2-liter V-8, which should retail for about $135,000. It will be at dealers in early 2011.
On the other end of the spectrum, there will very likely be a sportier version, inspired by the race-ready R8 LMS, with carbon-fiber parts and probably more power. Look no further than the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera for a glimpse of this V-10 engine’s potential.
