Very nice driving report here with the Audi RS5 S-tronic. A must read!
Audi’s RS performance cars are like icebergs. There’s an unassuming bit you can see just above the waterline and a monster lurking just below the surface. The new RS5 is no exception.
It would be all too easy to mistake it for a regular A5 coupé dressed up in some fancy bits chosen from a glossy brochure. The wheelarches are subtly wider, the bumpers are different, the stance is lower, the door mirrors have an aluminium-effect shroud and the exhaust pipes could double as industrial venting. Like the TT and R8 supercar, a speed-activated rear spoiler pops up when the car goes above 50mph to help smooth out the airflow. Inside, the usual sober and beautifully made Audi interior is sprinkled with extra gauges: a lap timer and oil temperature. It’s oh so subtle, but then at £57,480, it’s hardly a car for 21-year-old boy racers.
