VW Golf GTI: 13-year-old copy becomes world’s fastest with 208 mph

A 13-year-old VW Golf GTI is now officially the world’s fastest GTI with a top speed of 208mph. Awesome!

GTI aficionado Jeremy Freedman set out to unequivocally obliterate this top speed shortcoming with his Mk III. During last fall’s Texas Mile event, Freedman piloted his black 1997 GTI to a scarcely believable trap speed of 208.1 mph!
