Bad news: the Porsche 911 GT2 RS is sold out!
Porsche buyers have snapped up all 500 units of the $245,000 2011 GT2 RS, the automaker said on Wednesday. It reported that it has pre-sold all cars slated for the U.S., 133 units of the 620-horsepower vehicle, which it describes as the “fastest and most powerful road-going sports car ever built in the history of Porsche, in the U.S.”
Although Porsche jealousy guards its client list, it acknowledged for Inside Line on Wednesday that celebrities are among the buyers of the GT2 RS.
“People like Jerry Seinfeld are some of our best customers when it comes to these special cars,” said Dave Engelman, Porsche Cars North America spokesman, in a phone conversation with Inside Line.
When asked if the vehicle was purchased primarily by males, Engelman replied, “Guaranteed.” The main pool of buyers for the GT2 RS is described as “traditional Porsche customers,” he said.
