Audi of America has announced the prices for the Audi R8 GT, it starts from $198,050.
Volkswagen’s premium brand said that only 333 R8 GTs will be built for worldwide sale, with 90 of them earmarked for U.S. customers.
The R8 GT is not only the most expensive Audi ever, but also the “lightest, fastest and most powerful entry in the Audi supercar lineup,” the company says.
The R8 GT gets a specially tuned version of the 5.2-liter V10, delivering 560 horsepower and mated to Audi’s R tronic sequential manual transmission. The GT is about 180 pounds lighter than the standard R8 5.2, thanks to extensive use of carbon fiber. Audi said top speed in the R8 GT is 199 mph, with 0-60 acceleration in less than 3.6 seconds.
The 2012 R8 GT gets a number of exterior modifications, including carbon-fiber rear hatch, spoiler and diffuser. The cockpit also has been revised, with a white instrument cluster, carbon matte accents and black Alcantara seats, headliner, steering wheel and handbrake lever with contrasting stitching, as well as aluminum logo inserts in the doors sills.
Among the options are a 495-watt Bang & Olufsen sound system and carbon-fiber reinforced ceramic brakes with red anodized calipers.
