Latest street word has it that the Bugatti 16C Galibier has been given the green light for production and it might come with an optional electric engine.

Bugatti will go ahead with the production of the exclusive Bugatti 16C Galibier that can optionally be fitted with an electric motor to improve social acceptability, Bugatti CEO Wolfgang Durheimer confirmed in an interview with the British CAR magazine.

Production of the Galibier, fitted with the 16 cylinder Veyron engine with an output of 1000 horsepower, is expected to be limited to 3,000 units with each car selling for in excess of 1 million euros ($A1.36 million).

According to Durheimer, the electric engine addition was part of the option as a growing number of cities were banning cars with a high output of carbon dioxide.
