We have the latest intel about the next-generation VW Passat for you. A must read!
According to Auto Motor und Sport, the model will ride on the MQB platform which will also underpin the redesigned Golf and Audi A3. This should enable the entry-level Passat to weigh approximately 1,400 kg (3,086 lbs). Additionally, the platform sharing will reduce costs so the car is expected to have more standard equipment including an infotainment system and Bluetooth/iPod connectivity.
Under the hood, we can expect a variety of diesel engines that will meet the strict Euro 6 emission standards.
The petrols, on the other hand, will reportedly have a start/stop system and cylinder deactivation technology. Sadly, the 3.6-liter V6 could be replaced by a turbocharged 2.5-liter five-cylinder but that isn’t official as of yet.
