The German hatch measures 4.24 m in length, 1.77 m in width and has a wheelbase of 2.60 m. The height also remains the same as the previous model. The Sports version suspension is lowered by 15 mm, while the sportiest S line goes a further 10 mm near to the ground.
The boot capacity of 365 L can be increased to 1,100 L when the rear seats are folded flat. The new Audi A3 has also lost 80 Kg compared to the previous version. At launch it will be offered in a choice of three engines: a 1.4-litre TFSI with 122 hp, a 1.8-litre TFSI with 180 hp and a 2.0-litre TDI with 150 hp. The 1.8 TFSI will come with a seven-speed S-tronic double-clutch gearbox while the 1.4 and 2.0 will be offered with a six-speed manual.
