Bentley Brooklands: Test drive report from the Middle East

Bentley Brooklands
We have a feeling that the Middle East is the natural habitat for the Bentley Brooklands and these lucky test drivers seem to share our opinion.
The Bentley Emirates team hosted a terrific event where the team members interacted with the special invitees.

The exclusive Bentley event clientele also had the chance to meet Tim Hodgson – Owner Manager for Arnage, Azure and Brooklands from Bentley Crewe, England.

A veteran Bentley official for 31 years, Mr. Hodgson was present to advise and assist the clients.

The enthusiastic guests were thrilled by the test drive.

Adding to the excitement of the test drive, there was a static display of the engine and ceramic brakes of the legendary car that gave the visitors a deeper insight into the special edition Bentley.

Inspired by the exploits of the ‘Bentley Boys’ at the famous Brooklands racetrack in the 1920’s, the new Bentley Brooklands captures all the style, power and splendour of that era.

Bentley: Special series edition of Devil May Care book

James Bond Devil May Care
Bentley has released a special edition of the Devil May Care book, the latest story of James Bond.
As we first reported last September, MI6's greatest secret agent also returns to his Bentley-driving roots in Devil May Care. The car is the same one he drives in Fleming's Thunderball and On Her Majesty's Secret Service: a custom 2-seat Bentley R type Continental convertible with the 4½-liter engine from a Mk VI stuffed underhood. To celebrate Bond's return to Bentley, Penguin Books asked the automaker to design a very limited Special Series Edition -- just 300 copies will be made.

Devil May Care numbering plateUnder the supervision of chief designer Dirk Van Braeckel (the man responsible for the current Continental GT's lines), Bentley has delivered a leather-bound, heirloom-quality piece. The 'Flying B' hood ornament is featured on the cover and spine, and the outer leather is stitched in the same diamond pattern you'll find on the seating surfaces of a modern Bentley road car.

Bentley Brooklands: Nice review and photography

Bentley Brooklands
We found a nice review including some stunning photos of the Bentley Brooklands. Worth to check out!
There is no way around it: the Brooklands coupe, the new range-topper from Bentley, is a magnificent absurdity. Standing blunt and foursquare, the nearly three-ton four-seater from Crewe is as incongruous as the ballerina hippos in Disney's Fantasia. Like them, it is implausibly graceful and capable in motion. On the face of it, the fact that one of the most beautifully finished cars ever built is capable of running with ultimate two-seat sports cars from Italy and Germany on twisting roads is absurd. That this huge mass can go from rest to 60 mph in a mere five seconds, and that it can go on to 184 mph on its standard tires, is frankly incredible. But absolutely true.

Everything about the Brooklands is over the top, whether one is talking about the biggest brakes offered on any production car or the most completely leather-lined cabin available today (even the headliner is made with flaw-free leather from contented cows). This is a car of extremes, which is as it should be. There's no point in paying some $350,000 for a car unless it possesses qualities that lesser vehicles do not. This one does, in spades.

Bentley Continental GT Speed: A class act

Bentley Continental GT Speed
Nice review here of the Bentley Continental GT Speed
All Bentleys, from the stately Arnage and Azure models, to the curvy and agile Continental, do speed and style in equal measure, but the GT Speed takes everything to the limit.

It's also the wide boy in the Continental line-up, adding a little exterior dressing to the curves of the low, two-door coupe in the form of a dark-tinted chrome grille, a black lower bumper valance at the rear, new multi-spoke 20in alloys and sports exhaust tailpipes.

The GT Speed might be supple enough to stroke easily through Britain's meandering roads, but it cries out for those straight stretches that make mainland Europe more of a home for the best grand tourer you can buy.

Bentley: Electric car unveiled

Bentley Greenpower
Bentley apprentices have developed an electric car called Greenpower.
Bentley on Monday showed off the one-wheel-drive "Greenpower," an electric-powered one-seater that was designed, engineered and built by a group of its factory apprentices here. The automaker said the car, which gives new meaning to the phrase "racing green," runs off a 24-volt motor supplied by two 12-volt batteries. It has a top speed of 40 mph and boasts zero emissions.

The Greenpower features a bright chromed grille, fixed carbon-fiber suspension wishbones, carbon fiber wheels with Michelin low-resistance tires and a Bentley hide/Alcantara-trimmed interior.

Bentley Arnage: Spy shots of Rolls-Royce Phantom killer

Bentley Arnage
A new flagship model of the Bentley Arnage has been caught testing and it's said to be a Rolls-Royce Phantom killer.
Look closely at the centre of the car, and you can clearly see the B-pillar has been widened – an indication that the wheelbase has grown.

The increased length will ensure the new range-topper provides limousine levels of space inside. And for the first time ever, bosses are considering the possibility of using a diesel in the Arnage. Bentley’s parent company Audi has a rich heritage of oil-burners, so the options would include the V12 TDI fitted to the Audi R8.

In addition, rumour has it that the W16 engine from the Bugatti Veyron supercar is also under consideration for the big Bentley.

Expect prices for the new Arnage to start from around £180,000, and rise to in excess of £200,000 for the W16-engined Arnage T version.

Bentley Brooklands: Very first drive report

Bentley Brooklands
Here's a cool very first drive report with a fresh Bentley Brooklands!
Last Wednesday I stepped off a plane at Newark Liberty International Airport and into a 2009 Bentley Brooklands. My mission was to drive it some 550 miles to Cleveland, OH where it would be picked up and driven back to Bentley's North American headquarters in Auburn Hills, MI. When I got in, the odometer read 285 miles... total. I realized then that this was no hand-me-down review vehicle. Having been parked in Bentley's display at the 2008 New York Auto Show for the past three weeks, this Brooklands was taking its maiden voyage on U.S. soil with me at the helm.

Bentley Arnage R: Arabian test drive report

Bentley Arnage R
Used Bentley Arnage R are increasing in popularity lateley, that's why it's always handy to have a test drive report, even from Arabia.
This car is seriously crazy. Built like a limousine inside and out, the Bentley Arnage R drives like a muscle car from two decades ago.

The attention to detail is awesome on the outside. The big chrome grille is finely crafted, and we really liked the flying “B” on the hood, which we never really noticed before in photos.

Rounding out the classic luxury experience, the luggage trunk is huge, but we wish all the extra junk, such as the first-aid kit, were tied down somehow. Notice the two Bentley-branded umbrellas mounted on the rear wall below the CD changer!

Needless to say, I’ll write about the drive in the actual review. The car is a monster.

Bentley Continental GT: Aero kit gone wild

Bentley Continental GT
Premier4509 is offering an aero kit for the Bentley Continental GT, but question is: who asked for it?
The hand-made kit, constructed primarily of a carbon fiber/FRP mix, includes front and rear bumpers, side skirts, fenders and quarter panels. Once installed, your beloved Bentley will have increased its width by four full inches -- perfect to hide those new forged billet aluminum wheels with the deep lips. Of course, you'll be offered a choice of two rear wings, and a new set of exhaust tips to match.

Bentley R-Type Continental, Bentley Continental GT: The old king meets the new prince

Bentley R-Type Continental, Bentley Continental GT
We found a very cool comparison of a 1953 Bentley R-Type Continental versus a Bentley Continental GT. A must read!
The company has produced some of the most extraordinary, most powerful cars to ever grace the planet, and the two models here represent important milestones in Bentley's genealogy. Despite the fact that they're separated by 54 years, they have a lot in common.

The Continental moniker is apt, stating their raisons d'etre. They were both designed and built with the ability to cover enormous distances in supreme comfort, unrivalled civility and effortless pace. Both stand out like jewels, but honors for the most beguiling belong to the old-timer. This R-Type Continental (valued at more than $500,000 ) lives in the company's heritage collection and came out just for the day. It didn't fail to turn a single head.

Bentley: No W16, no diesel

Bentley
Bentley has ruled out to feature the W16 engine from the Bugatti Veyron or diesel engines in their model line-up.
Although Bugatti and Bentley are now united under common leadership, Bugatti is rumored to be working on its own luxury limousine, so shoehorning its engine into the production Arnage could cut down its legs prematurely. As for the diesel, Bentley's position remains that customers aren't ready for oil-burning Bentleys at this point. In the short term, then, Bentley customers will just have to make do with 6.75-liter V8s and 6-liter W12s.

Bentley Continental GT Speed

The Bentley GT Speed is more powerful still, thanks to its upgraded turbo W12 with 602 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque. Bentley says 60 mph should come up in 4.3 seconds, a 10th quicker than before. And Bentley claims that the GT Speed will eclipse the conventional GT's top speed of 198 mph with a 202-mph blast.
