Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport: Featured in Jay Leno's Garage

The Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport has been featured in Jay Leno's Garage. Watch the video!
That's right, the once and future king of late night television gets his denim-clad paws all over Bugattis' latest and greatest. And – being Jay Leno – he talks about the Grand Sport in the Bugatti wing of his Big Dog Garage. Literally, the Bugatti wing. Jay is also joined by Bugatti's North American Marketing Manager John Hill as well as Veyron hot shoe and former F1 driver Pierre-Henri Raphanel. The latter of which takes Jay for a little ride (ahem) around the quiet streets of Burbank.

Bugatti Veyron: Comparison against Bugatti EB110

Bugatti Veyron, Bugatti EB110
Interesting comparison here of the Bugatti Veyron and the Bugatti EB110.
“But while both might wear Bugatti logos and prove an unlikely spot in a supermarket car park, do the EB110 and Veyron really have so much in common? They come from unrelated enterprises, one defunct, the other flourishing. Their styling is tangentially linked at best and their prices and performance are separated by a gulf as big as the one you’ll find between an Audi TT RS and an R8 V10.

“Yet they have more in common than you’d imagine. Both are built around carbonfibre tubs, are powered by generously cylindered, multi-valve, midship-mounted vee engines whose substantial muscle is boosted by a quartet of turbochargers.

Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport: Blanc Noir edition shown in California

Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Blanc Noir
The Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Blanc Noir edition is currently on display in California.
Apparently created for a high-end clothier, the Veyron Blanc Noir appears to be a one-off (like the Pegaso) rather than a limited-production run (like the Fbg par Hermes). Based on the targa-roofed Grand Sport, the Black Noir edition – spotted in California – is all done up, as the name suggests, in black and white: a matte white body with glossy black hood, wheels, spoiler, fuel filler cap and more.

Bugatti Veyron: Unseen design concept by Walter de'Silva found

Bugatti Veyron
Today's Bugatti buzz is all about an so far unseen design concept by Walter de'Silva back from 1999. Have a look!
The full-scale model, complete with interior, was thankfully rejected by Ferdinand Piech in favor of the better looking but still-aesthetically-challenged production version.

de'Silva, who was head of design at Seat in '99 was approached by VW's head of design at the time, Hartmut Warkuss, to submit a proposal for the hyper car's looks. Giugiaro, which penned the Chiron, also submitted a proposal.

Bugatti 16C Galibier: Trademark registered, production coming soon?

Bugatti 16C Galibier
Bugatti has registered the trademark for "16C Galibier" which might give a production hint.
Still, Bugatti is making sure all of its ducks are in a row... just in case. Evidence of such can be seen in a trademark filing with the World Intellectual Property Organization that seeks to keep other automakers from stealing the car's design and shape. After all, it's happened before.

With Veyron production scheduled to come to an end after the 2012 model year, Bugatti only has a little bit of time to decide if it's moving forward on that supercar's successor, and if so, whether or not the front-engine, four-door Galibier is the direction it needs to go.

Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport: Driving report

Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport
Interesting driving report here about the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport.
A fellow automotive writer, reviewing the car recently for another pubication, decided after his hour with the Grand Sport that "the Bugatti isn’t the future of the fast car; it’s the past writ in extra-large type." I beg to differ. This car is the culmination of everything the Volkswagen Group knows about building cars, and probably a few things it didn't know it knew. The Veyron is an unwaveringly forward-thinking piece of machinery, one that — as the Space Shuttle has informed general aviation — will inform more accessible cars for years to come.

Bugatti Galibier 16C: Privately displayed ahead of LA Motor Show

Bugatti Galibier 16C
Bugatti has privately displayed the Bugatti Galibier 16C to a few chosen ones ahead of the LA Motor Show. Have a look and there might be even more coming!
The Bugatti folks spent time with many of the guests and asked for our feedback. Besides discussing the Galibier, I breached the subject of a likely "more economical" sports car in line below the Veyron. His response was such that I am guessing they have been working on this for a while. Fingers crossed!

Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport: Behind the wheel report

Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport
Not too many people can claim to had some time with the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport, therefore it's a very interesting read.
MY mission today is to offer my clear-eyed take on the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport. But the price keeps getting in the way.

This removable-roof version of the Veyron coupe costs 1.4 million euros, or roughly $2.1 million. I say roughly, because the Bugatti’s price can fluctuate about $14,000 a day simply from one-cent adjustments in exchange rates.

For that price, a rare species of car owner gets a rocket that gleams across the planet’s surface faster than any true production automobile that has come before. The Bugatti shifts occupants around like a Star Trek transporter: from a standstill to 60 miles per hour in 2.7 seconds, to 125 m.p.h. in just over 7 seconds and on to a top speed of 253 m.p.h. — though 401 kilometers per hour has a better bullet-train ring to it.

Bugatti 16C Galibier: It is a concept

Bugatti 16C Galibier
Bugatti has stressed again that the Bugatti 16C Galibier is a concept and has shown it again at the LA Auto Show.
Insiders are keen to make it once Veyron production ends in 2012, although the firm’s director of sales, marketing and after sales Alasdair Stewart has officially said otherwise.

Speaking at the car’s showing at the Ace Gallery in Beverly Hills, Stewart said the car was one of several concept studies the firm would be displaying over the next few years as it considers the future of the prestigious marque.

Technical boss Wolfgang Schreiber has told previously Autocar that he wants the Galibier to “be the world’s fastest, highest accelerating and powerful four-door”. Company boss Franz-Josef Paefgen said the firm was keen to make the concept a production reality and it would be up to Bugatti to convince its customers and the VW Group it should make it.

Bugatti Veyron: Copy with F1 numberplate found

Bugatti Veyron
A great-looking, white Bugatti Veyron with F1 numberplates is headlining the MPH show in UK.
Owned by Afzal Kahn, the man behind bespoke tuning house Project Kahn, this Veyron is strictly a case of ‘if you need to ask the price, you can’t afford it’.

The ultra exclusive F1 number plates were purchased at auction by Mr Kahn for the princely sum of $721,743 which was headline news in itself.

Mr Kahn insists that despite headlining the MPH Show the car is not for sale, although he is hoping it would be the perfect car for newly crowned Formula One champion Jenson Button since it features the most expensive number plate sold in the UK.

Bugatti: What's next? Insights here!

Bugatti
Join us for some insights into what's next (or not) for Bugatti.
Still basking in the afterglow of an all-too-rare drive of the astounding Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport in Connecticut, I had a sit-down with John Hill, Bugatti’s market manager for the Americas. I asked what Bugatti is considering for the follow-up act to the 253-mph mega-sports car when its production run is over in 2012.

“Whatever we’re going to do, it’s going to be ultra-exclusive,” said Hill, ruling out any possibility of a sub-million-dollar “Veyron Lite” (sorry, mere mortals, you seriously will never own one). Like the Veyron, the next Bugatti “will be the top of the industry.”

Bugatti 16 C Galibier: Don't like it? We can make a new one!

Bugatti 16 C Galibier
Insider sources say that Bugatti will make a new concept if the public doesn't like the Bugatti 16 C Galibier.
One option, revealed to Autocar by a company insider, is to make a new Veyron.

"We could just make a new one using the Galbier's mechanicals," he said, suggesting a new sports car could be front-engined.

Another option is a cheaper saloon, costing around £400,000. However, there are worries that it could conflict with the Bentley business within the VW Group.

Bugatti 16 C Galibier
Bugatti has unveiled the Bugatti 16 C Galibier, a concept which could go into production from 2013. Also check the video below!
Set to grace the firm's show stand at the Frankfurt Motor Show on 15th September, the car gets the same 16 cylinder engine that powers the Veyron coupe - mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

With the empahsis of the design and engineering firmly on ultimate luxury, the £900,000 model also gets a distinctive wood and leather trimmed interior, with room for four passengers.

Like the Veyron, which at 1000bhp offers a top speed of over 240mph, the Galibier also aims to the be the world's fastest saloon. With a detuned 800bhp version of the Veyron's engine under the boonet, top speed should be around 220mph.

To help improve the performance further still, a lightweight body, built of carbon fibre and aluminium will feature.

Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Sang Bleu: The last special edition?

Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Sang Bleu
Street word has it that the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Sang Bleu might be the last special edition of the Bugatti Veyron.
After taking the wraps off the Sang Noir, Pur Sang, Fbg by Hermes, Grand Sport, Bleu Centenaire and the quartet of individual Centenaire tribute editions, to say nothing of the individual specials in between, Auto Motor und Sport says that the Sang Bleu edition of the Grand Sport which Bugatti unveiled at this past weekend's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance will be the last special edition Veyron that Molsheim will build. With a reported 250 out of the 300 Veyrons initially earmarked for production now built and sold, Bugatti's moving on to its next project, tentatively dubbed Bordeaux.

Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport "Sang Bleu": Unveiled at Pebble Beach

Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Sang Bleu
Bugatti has unveiled a new special edition called Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport "Sang Bleu". Nice!
The "Sang Bleu" is set off by its unique two-tone color combination that isn't the result of opening a couple new cans of paint back at the Bugatti factory in Molsheim, France, but rather combining two materials: carbon fiber and aluminum. The shiny parts are, of course, the al-yoo-mini-um of which we spoke, but the royal blue you see is a specially tinted carbon fiber. The only other differences between the "Sang Bleu" and a normal Grand Sport are that the rear airscoops are also body color, and the wheels are a unique design with a Midnight Blue and Diamond Cut finish.

Only 20 standard Grand Sports have been ordered and far less actually delivered, so the "Sang Bleu" stands as the rarest Veyron of them all right now.

Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport: Driven!

Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport
We found another nice driving report of the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport.
You have to plan ahead for moments like those. The enormous potential hidden amidship behind your head—okay, hidden is a strong word, since the proudly-stamped “16.4” manifold covers are laid out there in the open like certain parts of non-neutered dogs—demands constant attention. This is, after all, the fastest roadgoing car on the face of the earth, and difficult to drive fast while also balancing the need for a future career in your head.

The specs are revealing. Actually, they’re pretty much car porn. The Veyron Grand Sport cribs the coupe’s unearthly 8.0-liter V-16 engine, its four turbochargers, its all-wheel drive, its seven-speed paddle-shifted transmission, basically stealing all the powertrain thunder it can. Those 987 horsepower let you know right away they’re aware of being handed to a mere lackey, and touching the throttle even gently signals a mood change behind your ears. Laminated glass keeps you safe, just like at the lion cage at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, but still…you don’t want to tap the glass.

Bugatti Royale: Full rendering

Bugatti Royale
We found a full rendering of the Bugatti Royale. Nice!
It’s one of two Bugattis pencilled into the product development cycle between now and 2018 – and the supersaloon is set to replace the Veyron, which is nearing the end of its 300-strong limited production run.

Bugatti’s new saloon will sport the Veyron’s W16, but mounted up front instead of amidships as in the 253mph sports coupé and roadster. Direct injection could figure this time, however, and the limo is tipped to be rear-wheel drive, making it the first modern Bug to eschew 4wd.

The sturdy Ricardo-developed seven-speed twin-clutch gearbox is also carried over on the new C21 Royale. The Veyron’s drivetrain has cost so much to develop, that the bean counters insist on reusing as much as possible rather than re-engineering everything.

Want to go really, really, really fast? Like, a regional jet on approach? Engage the Veyron's top speed mode with a special key and the car lowers itself for a 253-mph run. Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport: Driving report

Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport
Here's one of the very few driving reports with the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport. Enjoy!
Bugatti claims the 53kg weight penalty knocks a couple of tenths off the coupe’s 2.5sec 0-62mph time, but unless you stray onto Santa Pod drag strip when the top fuellers are doing their stuff, you’re not going to come across much that can beat it. Don’t believe me? How about zero to 186mph (300km/h) in less than 17sec? You won’t find a Ferrari or Lamborghini that can get within the same time zone as the Bugatti when it’s delivering all 987bhp.

In fact it’s truly unsettling the first few times you give it the lot and hold it there in second gear and through third. I’ve been fortunate enough to have driven plenty of quick cars – including a Mclaren F1 – and I was still startled by the kick in the back. If you’ve never driven anything swifter than a hot hatch, there’s a good chance that you might feel genuinely scared, it’s that quick.

Bugatti Bordeaux: Not coming to Frankfurt, exclusive preview for clients and dealers

Bugatti Bordeaux
The Bugatti Bordeaux (or Royale as we have heard) will not be shown at Frankfurt Motor Show, instead potential customers and dealers will get an exclusive preview.
Whatever it is, Bugatti confirmed to The Car Connection that it is indeed preparing to reveal a new concept to its clients and dealers; however, it won’t be until a couple of years that Bugatti actually produces an official model for the auto show floors.

We have our fingers crossed and hope that some pics will leak out from the centennial celebration of the Bugatti brand. The celebration will take place in September where Bugatti will show its dealers and clients the new concept.

Bugatti Bordeaux: New teaser shows 8 exhaust pipes!

Bugatti Bordeaux
A new teaser for the Bugatti Bordeaux shows 8 (!) exhaust pipes.
Note, too, the inclusion of eight rather obvious exhaust tips at the rear of the car, which reinforces speculation that this vehicle will be powered by Bugatti's current 8.0-liter W16 powerplant. If that's the case, we'd also expect the Veyron's all-wheel-drive system and active aerodynamics to keep the ridiculously powerful car from going airborne. As much fun as it is to speculate, we look forward to getting official word from Bugatti as Frankfurt draws nearer.

Bugatti Bordeaux: New model teaser released

Bugatti Bordeaux
Bugatti has released a teaser for its new model called Bordeaux which is expected in September.
And, as you can make out from this shadowy image, the Bordeaux will get a shooting brake-style body with striking horse shoe-shaped tailights. It also gets a split rear window, complete with a dramatic central brake light and, of course, a prominent Bugatti badge.

Inside there'll be space for four and although details have yet to be confirmed, the front-engined Bordeaux is expected to share the Veyron’s 8.0-litre quad-turbo W16.

Giving the same 987bhp and 1,250Nm of torque, it should take the car from 0-60mph in three seconds and on to 250mph, making this the world’s fastest four-seater.

Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport: A temple of Zen

Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport
Nice review and first drive report here with the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport. Enjoy!
The Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport is a violent, taunting, confounding and punctiliously engineered maelstrom. It is a handmade wonder built in a castle, and yet resembles a slightly squashed jelly bean. It has a $30,000 stereo, but it's too much work to actually listen to it. The 16-cylinder, quad-turbocharged engine with 1,001 horsepower and 922 lb-ft of torque is programmed not to let you damage it, but in just one afternoon, the leather-trimmed coachwork on the doors will be a mess of shoe marks. The car's brake rotors are chaperoned by 28 brake pistons, but using them forcefully is like begging someone to plow into the aforementioned engine. The car will cost you €1.6 million (roughly $2.24M USD), for which you get, as a soft top, an umbrella. That's right, an umbrella. Own it and you'll be master of the quickest accelerating production car in the world, and yet you'll probably never remember what that acceleration is like.

The Top Gear crew chose Abu Dhabi as the location for its supercar shootout. With an arid climate that sees practically no rain or freezing-and-thawing cycles, the roads in Abu Dhabi are long, straight and, most importantly, free of pot holes. Richard Hammond chooses to pilot the Bug and The Stig takes the centrally located wheel of the F1. We won't spoil the results except to say that this is the most real and nail-biting competition that we've seen on Top Gear in a long time.

Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport: First drive report

Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport
Nice driving report of the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport. Something quite rare by nature.
Bugatti's Olivier Thevenin gestures at us from the passenger seat and we come to a stop on a deserted, arrow-straight road somewhere in Sardinia. His serious look suggests he has something big to say.

"Now," he says. "Use all of the power — really. Then feel the brakes." As his was meant to be the voice of corporate reason during our drive of the 2009 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport, we could have kissed him.

We floor the throttle and the car simply takes off. Since we've got a quadruple-turbo 8.0-liter W16 behind us that pumps out 986 horsepower and 922 pound-feet of torque, we expect a battle of physics with the Haldex all-wheel-drive system and limited-slip rear differential that should leave the tarmac with emotional scars and end with the car off the road. But instead the Veyron simply leaves the vicinity like a bullet from a sniper's rifle.

The power meter on the instrument panel swings round and just for a second we are godlike, using the full force of the ultimate car.

And now it's got a removable targa-style top.

Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport: New official photos released

Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport
Have a look at these new official pictures of the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport. Nice! And if you prefer moving pictures then have a look here.
The GS gets a higher windscreen, daytime running lights and a transparent polycarbonate roof panel or umbrella-like soft top. There's also enough extra bracing beneath the carbon fiber skin to survive a black hole, and the two large air intakes above the engine are now reinforced to act as rollover bars.

The Veyron GS can go nearly 253 mph with its roof panel on, almost as fast as the straight coupe. Sans roof panel it can still hit almost 224 mph, and the soft top brings things down a top speed of just 99 mph. Only 150 units will be made, which means the 1.4 million euro Veyron Grand Sport is an ultra exclusive version of an already ultra exclusive car. Deliveries start in July and 30 have already ordered.

Bugatti Veyron: Just $25K ... for a day!

Bugatti Veyron
In case you are looking into renting a Bugatti Veyron this might come handy for you.
A Berkshire-based leasing company called Holders Vehicle Contracts has at its disposal the world's fastest, priciest production car. The car that demanded months of negotiation before even the Stig was allowed to drive it. The car that needs a special set of tires to cope with its maximum speed. The car that Jenson Button himself is tooling around in when he's not winning back-to-back Grand Prix.

But now we can all have a go. Well some of us at any rate. That $25,000 daily outlay notwithstanding, you also need to be able to put down $160,000 as a deposit.

Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport: Production has started

Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport
If you are eagerly awaiting the delivery of your Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport, be assured production has now started.
To mark the production start of the new model, which will be limited to 150 units, Bugatti has hosted a special day for enlisted buyers to test drive some pre-production versions at Cannes, in northern France. We’ve already known about the car for some time now as it first appeared on the auto scene last August at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.

The very first build slot for the car, incidentally, was auctioned off at the Pebble Beach event to a wealthy buyer who paid $2.9 million for the privilege. The other 149 cars are priced at €1.4 million (approximately $2 million), but the first 50 cars have already been reserved for registered Bugatti customers.

Bugatti Veyron Centenaire Edition: Celebrating 100 years with four Centenaire specials at Villa d'Este

Bugatti Veyron Centenaire Edition

Each of the four one-offs bares a different color to contrast with the chrome fenders, and each honors a different driver from Bugatti's glory days by taking their names. Bugatti Royale: 4-door Veyron unleashed

Bugatti Royale
Here are the first impressions of the Bugatti Royale, a 4-door Bugatti Veyron, but far away from being a family hauler.
With the £900,000, 253mph Veyron 16.4 already crowned the world’s most expensive and fastest supercar, Bugatti is seeking to go a step further: it will celebrate its 100th anniversary by unveiling this hyper-saloon at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

Inspired by the legendary 1927 Type 41 Royale, the new model would be as expensive as its brother and be available in a very limited production run for the company’s most loyal customers. As you can see, the exterior echoes the Veyron’s, while inside the cabin will offer unparalleled luxury, with the finest leather, suede and metal trim in addition to seating for four people and a luggage compartment at the rear.

With the same 987bhp and 1,250Nm of torque, the Royale should cover 0-60mph in three seconds and hit a 250mph top speed, making it the fastest four-seater in the world. It will also feature the same seven-speed twin-clutch transmission – developed by UK firm Ricardo – along with that Haldex clutch-equipped all-wheel drive. There will be active aerodynamics, a Veyron-style hydraulic rear wing that rises at speed, huge carbon composite brake discs and adaptive dampers, too.

Bugatti Veyron Pegaso edition: Up for sale!

Bugatti Veyron Pegaso
This unique Bugatti Veyron Pegaso is up for sale!
The Pegaso edition was a one-off built for one fortunate Eastern European customer living in Dubai (where else) at the exclusive Burj al Arab complex. It was painted a special pearl white and light red metallic with a custom interior bearing the Pegaso badge in tribute to the 1950's-era Spanish coachbuilder. We guess times are tight for everyone if the owner is motivated to sell, but then again, at €1.85 ($2.45M USD), the offering party is asking for a considerable premium over the standard million-€uro price of a new model for this barber pole Bug.

Bugatti Royale: Coming to Frankfurt Motor Show?

Bugatti Royale
Bugatti is said to release some product news in September? Is it about the Bugatti Royale and can we see it in Frankfurt Motor Show? Time will tell.
According to reports, the Royale would be even more exclusive than the Veyron. If the original Type 41 Royale is the inspiration, we could be looking at only a handful of examples available to Bugatti's most loyal customers (like that guy in Holland waiting for delivery of his third Veyron). Given all the money that went into the development of the Veyron's quad-turbo W16 engine and the bespoke dual-clutch gearbox that went with it, it'd be a wise bet to assume the drivetrain will carry over, although it's likely to be reconfigured for duty up front rather than the Veyron's mid-ship arrangement.

Bugatti Veyron: Golden copy found in Kuwait

Bugatti Veyron
A golden copy of a Bugatti Veyron has been spotted in Kuwait. Where else?!
The combination with tan offers a color combo that's at once eye-catching and also nearly camouflaged with its resident environment - the desert.

The car isn't just a freak-show garage queen, however, and it does get driven. It's been spotted out and about in Kuwait by media, the public and even a few speeding cameras. But the owner also coddles it as one might expect, treating it to the occasional $10,000 detail job and storing it in a climate-controlled atmospheric chamber inside the garage.

Bugatti: Future decided in September?

Bugatti
Street word has it that September will be an important month for the future of Bugatti.
This year is an important one for Bugatti. Not only does 2009 represent the centenary of the legendary marque but in September Bugatti’s management will reveal the future plans of the company, which will include the announcement of a brand new model. Why September? Because that is the month in which the company was founded back in 1909 by Ettore Bugatti.

As for the introduction of the rumored super-Veyron, Paefgen said if anyone tries to build a car that can dethrone the Veyron then Bugatti will be prepared.

Bugatti Veyron Bleu Centenaire: Shown in 260 Megapixel photo

Bugatti Veyron Bleu Centenaire
Definitely not your ordinary motor show photo here of the Bugatti Veyron Bleu Centenaire in a 260 megapixel shot.
The Gigapan camera system was originally a collaborative development between Google, Carnegie Mellon University and NASA Ames Intelligent Systems Division's Robotics Group. While it's not a camera per se, it is a highly intelligent robotic platform that holds a high resolution camera on board. In order to create the ultra-high resolution images, the robotic armature moves using mathematical pinpoints to photograph a scene and after taking the first shot it then re-aims with great precision, to take another photograph. Once the scene has been fully captured, the system then stitches all of the elements together to create one huge photograph, in this case, a 260-megapixel shot of the Bugatti Veyron Bleu Centienne.

Bugatti Veyron Bleu Centenaire: Live photos from Geneva Motor Show

Bugatti Veyron Bleu Centenaire
The Bugatti Veyron Bleu Centenaire looks stunning on these live impressions from the Geneva Motor Show. Great color!
Nonetheless, we do have another special-edition Veyron that gets a two-tone variation of the lightest shade of Bugatti Blue - sprintblue matte and sprintblue gloss. The roof stripes, exterior mirrors and other trims are made of polished aluminum. The appearance is further enhanced by the bright red brake-calipers. The inside of the Bugatti Veyron Bleu Centenaire is fitter with special “snowbeige” leather with quilting on the seats.

Bugatti also said that LED lights, park distance control and a rear-view-camera have become a part of the standard equipment for all Veyrons from this year onwards.

Bugatti Veyron Bleu Centenaire
Here's the first picture of the Bugatti Veyron Bleu Centenaire, Bugatti's anniversary model.
Called the Bleu Centenaire, this latest in a long line of special edition Veyrons commemorates the brand's 100th anniversary. As such, it's wearing a special shade of blue that you might remember seeing on the late, great EB 110, but is also the main color of Bugatti's historical racing livery. Note, however, that the Bleu Cenenaire features both matte and glossy applications of the color on its body panels, which looks strange yet inexplicably cool to us.

Bugatti Veyron Centenaire: 1350bhp anniversary model coming to Geneva

Bugatti Veyron Centenaire
Street word has it that Bugatti will show a 1350bhp anniversary model at the Geneva Motor Show called the Bugatti Veyron Centenaire.
Supposedly called the Centenaire edition, reports suggest the special Veyron an increased power rating – word on the street has always been that the Veyron's quad-turbo W16 was always capable of more than the already astronomic 1000 horsepower rating it got – up to some 1350 horses, good enough to boost the top end up to 420 km/h (261 miles-per-hour) from the current benchmark of 400 km/h (253 mph). Special paint schemes and trim pieces will surely be part of the mix as well.

Bugatti Type 57S Atalante: Auctioned for $4.4 Mio

Bugatti Type 57S Atalante
The barn-find Bugatti Type 57S Atalante which we have mentioned earlier has been auctioned off for $4.4 Mio.
The rare barn find 1937 Type 57S rolled across the Bonhams "Retromobile" auction block in Paris this weekend as scheduled, where it sold to a European collector for the equivalent of $4.4 million. While that may sound like a chunk of change – and certainly is by most standards, especially in this economy – it's only half of the highest estimates placed on the Bugatti's value upon discovery. You can bet that, after decades of neglect, its new owner will put in another hefty sum to have it restored to pristine quality before it starts hitting the concours circuit around the world.

Bugatti Veyron: Production sold out?

Bugatti Veyron
Is the production of the Bugatti Veyron already sold out?
The one wrinkle that has us wondering about all of these million-dollar supercars is that it was only last March when it was announced that Bugatti had sold 220 cars (of which only 132 had been built). Given how long it took them to get to 220, that seems like one heck of an order ramp-up, particularly given the state of the global economy.

The bottom line is that if you've been dragging your feet over whether to spend that extra million on a Bugatti or not, better make your mind up fast. Like, Veyron fast.

Bugatti Type 57S Atalante: Inside the £6million car

This stunning Bugatti spent nearly 50 years gathering dust in a garage, but as these exclusive Auto Express pictures show, it’s now ready to roll again. Nick Banwell – who has prepared the car – and James Knight from auctioneer Bonhams expect the Type 57S Atalante to become the most expensive production vehicle ever sold when it goes under the hammer next month.

The Bugatti is one of only 17 ever made, and due to its low mileage and top-drawer ownership pedigree, it’s been predicted to fetch as much as £6million in the sale.

Bugatti Veyron: Special edition spotted in Dubai

Bugatti Veyron
Is there any non-special Bugatti Veyron? This very cool-looking blue copy was spotted in Dubai.
This one-off, apparently spotted in Dubai's Mall of the Emirates (the same location where the Pegaso edition was seen), appears to have been made by Bugatti at its Molsheim headquarters for what is doubtlessly a very wealthy customer in Dubai. The car is painted in French Racing Blue, the most iconic of Bugatti colors, accented by brushed chrome trim all over and the wheels look similar to those employed on the aforementioned Hermes edition. Company founder Ettore Bugatti's signature is repeated on the door panel as well as in the interior and on the door sill plates.

Bugatti Veyron: Most expensive car ever on Craigslist

Bugatti Veyron
Interesting marketing approach to list a $1.3 million Bugatti Veyron on Craigslist.

Bugatti Veyron: Doing the Top Gear power lap

Finally Top Gear gave in and let the Bugatti Veyron do their famous power lap. See which car is the fastest!
For the past few years, the Top Gear Power Lap has been one of the standards by which we judge the world's fastest supercars. The Stig has piloted everything from the Ascari A10 to the Pagani Zonda around the course, with the Gumpert Apollo S recently taking the top spot with a time of 1:17.1. However, there was always a car absent from the list - the almighty Bugatti Veyron. With four-digit horsepower on tap, the Veyron has the potential to be one of, if not the, fastest car to ever go 'round the Top Gear test track.

Bugatti Veyron: Mirror-finish copy displayed at Wolfsburg's Autostadt

Bugatti Veyron
A very shiny, mirror-finish Bugatti Veyron now marks the entrance for the Bugatti pavilion at the Autostadt in Wolfsburg, Germany.
Friday the 31st of October 2008, saw the opening of the Autostadt in Wolfsburg's redesigned pavilion: with its spectacular display of architecture, art and design, the "Premium Clubhouse" represents the Volkswagen Group's multi-brand luxury and premium division. The British architect, Stephen Williams, accentuated the pavilion's unusual elliptic interior by adding a curved walkway and a lounge that virtually floats into the space. The exhibition area is characterised by the mirror-finish Bugatti Veyron, an artwork by artist Olaf Nicolai, and the artistic installations of Anselm Reyle and Peter Zimmermann.

Working site-specifically, Nicolai creates mental spaces in which he explores aesthetic perceptions. He challenges the observer to pay close attention as he transforms objects showing them in a different light. In his new work "Après vous", Nicolai displays a mirror-finish Bugatti in a mirrored room. The Bugatti Veyron is arguably the most technically intricate vehicle of all time, with its superb craftsmanship represents the pinnacle of excellence and exclusivity in the automotive world. The harmonious planes and structured lines of this elegant automobile are a reflective area in which the observer sees himself reflected back ad infinitum from the mirrors, thus becoming part of the exhibit: a phenomenon of endless play-back in which both the boundaries of the space and the boundary between object and observer are blurred.

Bugatti Veyron: Mind-blowing!

Bugatti Veyron
The Bugatti Veyron is simply mind-blowing.
* This is the fastest production car of all time. It is, simply, the height of automotive technology.

* In motion it sounds like a jet aircraft. Sophisticated aerodynamics ensure the car doesn't actually take off.

* Mind-blowing statistics — the top speed of this two-tonne car is 253mph. It accelerates from rest to 62mph in 2.5 sec, up to 125mph in 7.3 sec and 180mph in 16.7 sec. It covers a quarter-mile in 9.8sec.

* It uses the same launch control technology as Formula 1 cars, with 50 per cent more power than a Ferrari Enzo and twice the pulling power.

Bugatti Veyron: Road tested

Bugatti Veyron
Nice road test review of the Bugatti Veyron.
It takes five weeks to build each car. Counting the heater core, the Veyron has 12 radiators. Sixty mph is yours in 2.5 seconds. The Bug will reach 150 mph 8.3 seconds sooner than a Nissan GT-R. At its top speed of 253 mph [as tested by C/D, November 2005], it is traveling 371 feet per second and will empty its 26.4-gallon tank in 19 minutes. If you can’t locate fuel of 93 octane or higher, your dealer must detune the engine. Service, in general, will be expensive because it takes two persons—one of whom won’t be you—to remove the rear bodywork just to get at the engine. Four of this car’s Michelin PAX Pilots will set you back $25,000. If they’re mounted on wheels—a process undertaken only in France—well, that’s $70,000. The hydraulic rams that raise the rear wing at 137 mph are identical to those that raise flaps on aircraft. During the Veyron’s prototype days, a bird crashed through its aluminum grille—the car was humming along at 205 mph—so now the grille is titanium. The windows automatically rise and lock in place at 93 mph so your dog doesn’t lose his tongue. You thought the engine made 1001 horsepower? Nope. “They all make more than 1010,” says Bugatti’s Jens Schulenburg, who works in the “Gesamtfahrzeugentwicklung” department.

The latter, an exposed-carbon fiber special that eschews paint in the interest of weight and raw appeal, may be getting another version, based around the topless Veyron Grand Sport, according to the latest reports.

While such a car may seem counterintuitive in the way that a Ferrari 430 Scuderia Spyder does to the performance-minded, it could make for a stunning piece of automobilia, and a fine contrast to the white Grand Sport revealed at Pebble Beach this year.

The report grows out of the sighting of a customer Sang Noir alongside a model of a topless version of the same at an exclusive customer event, according to CAR. Only 15 of the hyper-exclusive Sang Noirs are to be built in coupe form, but it now appears about that many could be built in Grand Sport roadster form as well.

Bugatti Veyron: Road test

Bugatti Veyron
Another lucky guy who had the chance to road test the Bugatti Veyron, the uber car. And we agree with him: "It achieves 60 mph in 119 feet. It costs $1.7 million. What else do you need to know?".
It takes five weeks to build each car. Counting the heater core, the Veyron has 12 radiators. Sixty mph is yours in 2.5 seconds. The Bug will reach 150 mph 8.3 secondssooner than a Nissan GT-R. At its top speed of 253 mph [as tested by C/D, November 2005], it is traveling 371 feet per second and will empty its 26.4-gallon tank in 19 minutes. If you can’t locate fuel of 93 octane or higher, your dealer must detune the engine. Service, in general, will be expensive because it takes two persons—one of whom won’t be you—to remove the rear bodywork just to getat the engine.

Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport: Dubai launch report

Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport
Is there a better market for the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport than Dubai and the Emirates. Probably not. Read the launch report here.
There is a geeky square-shaped umbrella that is stored in the front luggage compartment, and you can walk around with this in the rain. This cloth umbrella is what snaps onto the top of the open Veyron Granny and becomes the roof. It is also the reason why top speed is limited to only 130 kph with the flimsy top on.

Bugatti: What's new for 2009?

Bugatti
Not many news for 2009 from Bugatti, but nice to be reminded.
2009 Bugatti Veyron 16.4: No significant changes.

2009 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport : The new Grand Sport is an open-top or targa version of the Bugatti Veyron 16.4. It's powered by the same midmounted 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16 engine used in the coupe. It's good for 1,001 hp and an unbelievable 922 pound-feet of torque. The all-wheel-drive supercar also packs a beefed-up seven-speed version of its excellent dual-clutch gearbox.

Bugatti Veyron: Holy Mother of God

Bugatti Veyron
Catchy title for a very nice review of the Bugatti Veyron. Enjoy!
You don't need to have a doctorate in engineering or be a car guru to appreciate the following stats, as the numbers speak for themselves: 407 km/h top speed, 0-100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and the wholly absurd horsepower count of 1001 ps, or 987 horsepower. These are dizzying numbers all right, though not as dizzying as its asking price of 1.1 million euros, which can, without too much difficulty be argued as the deal of the century, but more on that later.

From a mechanical standpoint, the Veyron's engine is a masterpiece. At eight litres in displacement, with sixteen cylinders arranged in three banks of eight, the compact engine is shorter in length than a traditional V12. And yet, it packs the mightiest of punches, as the engine is boosted along with four turbochargers with variable vane geometry for lag-less thrust. Aside from cooling purposes, the engine is out in the open for all to see, its magnesium detailing a work of art.

Bugatti Veyron: Road test review

Bugatti Veyron
Whenever a road test review of the Bugatti Veyron is published you should listen what they have to say.
It is important to stress that the Veyron is not fabricated or built here; no painting, welding or stamping is done on premises, but rather off-site before assembly. Like a giant, fully-operational model, the finest materials and products that Europe has to offer are fitted into a lightweight carbon fiber monocoque. The carbon fiber and aluminum body panels come pre-painted and shipped from Italy, the seven-speed DSG transmission from Britain's Ricardo Engineering and the massive sixteen-cylinder engine from Germany. Even the tires are built to spec, they are the widest fitted to any production car and were developed specifically by Michelin for the Veyron to cope with its 253 mph top speed.

Bugatti Veyron: Dutch buyer wants to build flag with 3 Veyron

Bugatti Veyron
A lucky, but misleaded Bugatti Veyron customer from the Netherlands wants to add a 3rd car to his garage, the very final one ever produced and it should come in bright red to complete his Dutch flag line-up of one in blue and one in white. What's next? Putting a campervan behind it?
The 300th Veyron will be the final car built, as was always the plan with the limited-edition hypercar. A Dutch buyer, Harrie van de Moesdijk, will buy the final car to complete his collection of three - one in each color of the Dutch flag.

Owning three Veyrons is a unique status symbol in its own right - according to Moesdijk, he'd be the only person in the world with so many to his name. The 300th and final Veyron would be the crown jewel of the trio, a bright red car to complement the blue and white examples he already owns, reports AutoTelegraaf.

Getting the 300th car will be a challenge, however, as it will surely command a significant premium over the standard price of roughly $1.75 million due to its innate collectibility.

Bugatti Veyron GT: Coming with 425km/h top speed?

Bugatti Veyron GT
According to an unofficial document Bugatti is reaching for the crown again with the Bugatti Veyron GT and its 425km/h top speed.
Specifics on the new car are few, but according to the memo the Veyron GT will essentially be a standard Veyron with more power and a few minor mods. How much power you ask? Apparently 1,350hp (1,007kW) and 1,018lb-ft (1,380Nm) of torque – enough to take it to a new top speed of 264mph (425km/h).

The memo claims the car will also be fitted with upgraded carbon-ceramic brakes, a new electronic stability program, and a revised active aerodynamics package. With the upgrades on board the Veyron GT will sprint from 0-62mph (100km/h) in just 2.4 seconds and will go back to zero in just 2.2 seconds.

The expected launch date is scheduled for the Geneva Motor Show in March next year. Importantly, the memo also states that current Veyron owners will be able to upgrade their vehicles to GT status.

Bugatti Veyron GT: More news about the 920kW monster

Bugatti Veyron GT
We have more information about Bugatti's plotted 920kW monster, the Bugatti Veyron GT.
Production of the current Veyron is set to run out by 2012, with the recently launched soft-top Grand Sport version set to be joined by a more powerful ‘GT’ coupe before production ends.

Dr. Wolfgang Schreiber, Bugatti’s engineering boss, thinks there is some latent power still waiting to be extracted form the 8-litre, quad-turbo W16. Currently the 746kW engine ensures the Veyron is good for 407km/h.

With the ‘GT’ version Bugatti is allegedly keen on a 434km/h top speed which would necessitate 895kW of power to overcome drag. Rumour has it the boys from Molsheim are aiming for a 920kW output on the ‘GT’, which means you’ll be able to run the climate control whilst attempting a top end run – nice.

If the ‘GT’ embodies all the alleged power increases it should be a fitting swansong to the Veyron range.

Bugatti Veyron: Super Veyron and Saloon in the works?

Bugatti Veyron
As reported in July already Bugatti is considering a Veyron successor for 2012, but the bigger news might be the discussed Super Veyron and the luxury saloon they are rumored to be working on.
Despite consistent rumors of the firm's eventual demise after that, head-honcho Dr Franz-Josef Paefgen says that another supercar and possibly an ultra-lux saloon (four-door to all you poor people) could be in the cards for 2012. In an effort to curb greenhouse gas emissions, alternative-fuel powerplants will also be on the drawing board.

Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport: First copy auctioned for $2.9 million

Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport
The very first copy of the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport has been auctioned off for just $2.9 million. A bargain in our opinion if you consider the almost assured value increase in future. Watch the auction in the video below!
The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport debuted at the Pebble Beach Concours last weekend, and chassis number one was promptly auctioned off the following day by Gooding & Company for the obnoxious sum of $2.9 million. "Standard" pricing for the ultra-exclusive convertible is set at €1.4 million, or about $2 million, so a paltry $900,000 for the privilege of owning the first one is totally worth it.

Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport: Officially unveiled

Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport
The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport has been officially unveiled at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance and is now the ultimate drop-top for every car enthusiast. Awesome!
As you'd expect, Bugatti hasn't just hacked the roof off the Veyron and gone to the pub. The windshield is slightly higher, the daytime running lights have been tweaked and then there's the showpiece: a removable, transparent polycarbonate roof, which blends the A-pillars into two painted carbon fiber strips that lead into the massive air intakes feeding the 1001 hp, quad-turbocharged, W16.

If you stow the roof at home for the world's fastest open-air, four-wheeled experience and the heavens decide to open, a folding roof stored in the luggage compartment can be – according to Bugatti – "opened like an umbrella." With the soft-top in place, speeds are limited to an incredibly low 130 km/h (81 mph), otherwise, the Grand Sport can hit 252 mph with the polycarbonate roof and 224 mph with the top removed.
