Help wanted!

Help wanted!

We are currently thinking about the future of The German Car Blog and which direction to take. While the core, the web's most popular resource for German cars, is here to stay, we are considering several options to expand The German Car Blog into much more than just that.
Therefore your help in defining the future is crucial for us, because it's all about you, our avid and loyal readers.
Please take a short time over the next few weeks to answer some simple polls which we will provide, it's really appreciated!

Poll 1:

Long-time readers might remember that we made a brief foray into the world of forums, but honestly speaking we are no huge fans of them and we closed it down again. They are so 90's, looks are ugly and user interaction is too complicated: search, find your thread, signup, post your reply...
There must be something simpler, nicer, better, something like Twitter, but as a private group without all the noise. Would you be interested in having exactly that?

The German Car TV: Our next time-waster for you

The German Car TV
2.5 years ago we have started The German Car Blog with the one goal to become a one-stop shop for news and opinion about Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, VW and Porsche, because it was simply a mess to keep track with all the news about our favorite brands.

Today, about 5700 (!) posts later (all carefully hand-selected by the way), The German Car Blog is established as the no. 1 resource in this niche and we are quite proud of that.

But in the meantime the internet has evolved. In the last few years, all of the mentioned brands have published many great videos and some of the best are even user-generated by car enthusiasts like you and me. We want to pay tribute to that and will start the next stage as of today. Again with one simple goal in mind: to make it as easy as possible and at the same time as most entertaining as possible for you to follow your beloved car brands.

We are very happy to announce the launch of The German Car TV, our next time-waster, to you.

You can watch the best videos of great German cars, rate them, write your comments and even share your videos or the videos you have found with us and all the other readers. It's dead simple.

And now, enough words. Time to watch some TV, a small selection can be found below, but please make sure to check the full channel. Enjoy!

The German Car Blog: Moving servers!

As you may have experienced in the last two weeks, The German Car Blog was non-reachable for some hours.
This was mainly due to the huge amount of traffic generated by readers of our website which we appreciate very much.
Nevertheless we have decided to move our servers to a new company with more capacity.

With the move we will have bigger servers with much more space and our own little playground giving you a better and faster reading experience. It even gives us the opportunity to grow with the steadily increasing number of readers.

While we are trying to make the switch as smooth as possible it might be that The German Car Blog will be non-accessible for some hours during the transfer.
We apologize for that in advance, but be assured that it's done for the better.

The server switch will be done in the next 1-2 days, so please be patient if things are not working as usual.

Thanks for staying with us! For doing so, we will upgrade your reading experience with a new design in the next few weeks.

The German Car Blog: Now also covering Porsche!

Porsche

Huh, what's that?

Maybe that's your initial reaction when seeing that logo here. But it's true.
With Porsche tying a closer knot with Volkswagen by buying a +20 percent stake and by cooperating even closer in the production of cars, we also decided to cover Porsche news as of today.

This will provide you with a better and more detailed picture of the Volkswagen Group, Porsche and their cars. So, it was a necessary step for us. It's like being even a bit more German now...

But, there's one more thing.

With the introduction of Porsche news to The German Car Blog and the P4MR Citizen Media Network, we are also introducing a new editor to you.
Please welcome our newest member Nik from UK. He has a big passion for Porsche and therefore he decided to write here about it and provide you with the latest news about his preferred brand.

Welcome, Nik! Good luck and have fun.

The German Car Blog: Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday
Today is a great day for us. We are very happy and also proud to celebrate our first anniversary together with you.
What started as an experiment one year ago is now the most authorative weblog about Audi, Volkswagen and the other Volkswagen Group brands.

We are the No. 1 !

Thanks to our great readership who always sends us the latest information and gives us a daily stop to read the latest news about their favorite brands and who shares the love for German premium cars with us. Without you we haven't come to this point, that's for sure.

Maybe you already recognized our small layout adjustment over the weekend (at least if you visited our website and are not reading this in your RSS reader). We cleaned our sidebar and we believe everything looks a lot cleaner now, focussing even more on the content, the reason why you all come back here so regularly.
But that's not all folks! In the next weeks, we will give you some very nice surprises. Stay tuned for more.

We are also very proud to be an official member of the P4MR Citizen Media Network now. It's our own small blog network, focussing only on topics we love. No hired bloggers, no purchased content. Just pure passion.
Other members are: "Foursprung", our car gadgets weblog and also "Living PSP", our latest family member and totally addicted to Sony's Playstation Portable.

Have fun and now: Let's party! It's another day with great news.

The German Car Blog: Official Audi R10 day!

Audi R10
We want to let you know that we are officially celebrating "The Audi R10 day" today, which means that you will only find Audi R10 news today at The German Car Blog.
But you will also find (nearly) everything published so far about the Audi R10 here today.
As a premiere we totally dedicate a day to one car, or let`s say to a possible future legend.

The Audi R10, which by design is already a revolutionary concept, could change the motorsports world for years or decades if the challenging project is going to succeed. Just remember the story of the introduction of Audi`s quattro to the rally scene!
Maybe we witnessed the birth of a new motorsports legend. This is what we want to celebrate with the official "Audi R10 day".

The German Car Blog: Went 100K!

The German Car Blog
By reporting about all the great news lately, we have totally overseen that The German Car Blog went 100K yesterday!
A big thanks to all of our readers and tip senders who helped The German Car Blog to already become the no.1 resource for news and opinion about the Audi and Volkswagen brand group!
We are very proud to had more than 100.000 readers so far and we will continue to improve.

To give you an example how reading of The German Car Blog provided some help, we want to show you a mail by our reader Moe who was in a difficult situation to choose the right car for him:
I actually went to Europe and did a side by side comparison between the 1 series hatch (Which will never make it to US) and the Audi A3. I must say from the looks alone department, the BMW designers have a lot to learn from Audi. I like the understated gentleman like demeanor of the Audi. It may not be to everyone's liking, but that is far better than the BMW's garish looks that seems to be to everyone's dislike.

Although I did not to get to drive the two cars, your posts helped solidify my decision to purchase the Audi A3. I am now calling the dealer to place my order. So, thank you.

And today we are very happy to announce that we are currently finishing the final preparations for the grand opening of our new car gadgets blog!
This blog is totally devoted to car gadgets and to new car technology in the true sense of "Vorsprung durch Technik", Audi's famous claim. Although we have to say that we will not write only about Audi, we will cover all the news related to real gadgets for real cars.

We are sure that you will have fun reading it, it's already a lot of fun preparing it!

And we will have another premiere: We are very proud to introduce a new contributing editor who co-founded our new blog together with us.

Let's see how "The Vorsprung Blog" will develop.

Why did we choose to start another blog? Because we had a feeling that the people are lusting for more technological news, everything related to "Vorsprung durch Technik" in its true meaning. This is the Audi DNA! And you can expect to read more about it here.
Although this does not mean that we will only write about Audi technology in here. We will focus on it, but if we believe it is of interest for you, we will also write about technology news from the Audi and Volkswagen brand group as well.
Give it a try!
